Burn, Baby, Burn!

About 50 years ago, this land was used for cattle ranching....it was a mostly cleared, pastoral paradise....since then, however, a lot of the acreage has become an overgrown, enthistled, treedundant, poinsonivycentric nightmare! We have done a LOT of clearing this year. As a result of that clearing, we have a LOT of dead brush piled up all over the dadgum place! It's mucking up our pastoral views and causing me great distress and heartburn....Now that Gpa Craig is here, we have the help we need (and the weather we've been waiting for) to take control of these billowing brush monsters and do away with them once and for all! There are 5 total....4 were burned this weekend. The lone survivor is a beast like no other...reaching 3o feet high at its peak! We'll need reinforcements for that battle...

JR and Gpa Craig begin by tossing in all the outlying debris into the main pile...then they cut the grass down as low as possible to prevent a creeping grass fire...

Then, JR waters down the ground all around the brush to be burned so as to further prevent a creeping, crawling, singeing, big fat mean grass fire!

Then Gpa tosses a little bit of 'liquid encouragement' onto the whole mess and lights er' up! Step back Gpa Craig! She's gonna BLOW!

And thar she BLOWS!

Soon tho, this monster is all burn out....

So Gpa Craig will use the ole JD to rile her up a bit more and get er' finished off....

When it's all said and done, that once intimidating pile of overgrowth, is reduced to nothing but ash and worn out cinders....

That'll teach you nasty brush bully! Until we meet again....

Happy Trails,

Leah
